I find it most strange they make no mention of how using a bare host file solution is the only way the attackers can enter and operate on the network, this shows how deliberate is their campaign to mislead users.

If they compared like with like and some honesty the rhetoric would be something more like this:

That doesnt even touch it. they go all the way down to language.
at that time the dll isnt in any language
nor is the host file.
its not bundled with software its built in.

In my humble opinion it is not fair to say bad things about anyone and in this case about Gemini who did great work in the early days after frontcode closed the caches, in those days the policy was no blocking whatsoever. Gemini has been one of a few who dared to speak against Sabre and tried to get some sense in his brains. She left the team because she had enough of insults taken from the dictator we all know as Sabre. We never can deny he put lots of time and resources in the WinMx peer. Some of us know he lost all interest in WinMx and it is just a matter of time until he closes his caches. I do not want to defend the members of the pie.info team, but I see it as unfair to speek in this way about people with the same goal but following another vision. I did not succeed in altering their vision and maybe no one can.
The very few left in the team have no way or skills to make up their own minds, they just blindly follow the leader and refuse to see he lost all interest in a solid network. Just sitting there to bug the mess as he names the network.

My aim was not to beat on Gemini Wonderer, I,m sure she believed she was doing the right thing at the time and as pointed out before that is an old post, I will admit that after 3 -1/2 years of unnecessary network flooding I,m angry but I decided some time ago that what got us to that place was fear mistrust and lack of communication, Gemini would be welcome to have a copy of our patch and cache + sources if it got her on board, the aim is not to have any single group ,making all the decisions but us all taking our places as equals in a knowledgeable community of friends, we messed that up first time round but the door is always open here for those who care about the network and have a history to prove it, even sabre is welcome to join the community group, whats good for the whole network is always the best policy to follow and I think many will agree we have a great network but it needs care and maintenance just like anything else.

At some point in time you must stop being patient and go on doing what is best.
The community patch and the way the peer caches are set up is very close to professional.

@ the hosts patched users still in doubt and reading this, put the community patch in your WinMx folder and restart WinMx. If you are satisfied about the results, you may uninstall piepatch 3.6. If, which I don't expect, you are not, close WinMx, delete the dll and restart WinMx with the bad results you was used to have.

Stripes have some patience please, as the site has grown we have asked many more users to join the site and its operating team, now I,m all for action right away also but I,m sure you,ll appreciate that co-ordinated action is best undertaken when all those who may be asked about it are able to either talk knowledgeably about it or post a reference link to some information, rushing into things is not so sensible when it means we may be speaking with many tongues rather than the single voice we need to put forward, most folks like democracy so please give us time to act in a democratic fashion by ensuring all those who know enough to see the scope of the problem are allowed to state their views either here or in the closed sections we have on the forum for the site and support staff, slow we may be but solid action will always result from a co-ordinated group.

We will always do whats best for the users and the network, but all folks need to remember that "we" is now a major sized group of folks and not the 3 folks who got the site rolling.

For the record stripes: that txt file IS the real blocklist, i.e. the one that the caches get from this server and distribute to all the clients.

Now there might be some delay in distributing any changes but otherwise this is the exact blocklist the caches have.

It's in a public location for a purpose, this way anyone can see what's in there and what isn't at any time.

when joshua made his oops i figured he was seeing a list that the servers used and that the text file was manually edited to reflect the one the servers used..... two oopses in one...

doesnt change the fact that winmx = very broken....

The reason nothing has happen this last week and ill be fully honest with you guys is i said that i would do the guide and make it into a diffrent languages. I posted life commitments got in the way as i am actaully going threw a very personal break up with my partner and continues custody battles in court. Which took a strange twist the night i said i would add him by me having my children living with me again. Sorry things are slow, but many of us are busy on other projects and you are very welcome to translate a few pages if you so wish. Sabre also uses otehr IP's than the ones posted by forested for the indexing part from what i have seen looking threw logs so they must also be harvested and gathered but due to my sudden role reversal back to father hood time is something im finding very difficult to find. Please dont be frustrated at the site as its not their fault and once we have the languages sorted and all IP's ill add them straight away.
