Installed 3.54b - seems ok. I don't like the 'filetypes' interface AT ALL. The older on was much simpler to use. Just check the boxes, or type extension in the box. All done.

This one is FAR too cluttered and confusing. Several tries to add a filetype failed, so I just removed all folders and started over.

Search results seemed identicle with 3.53 w/PIEpatch.

Logon took same time to get chatroom list. (I use that to be sure it IS logged on correctly).

I'll play with it, probably stick with the older version.

Hi HalofBorg,

Just to let you know, the main concern we have with the pie patch, and if you've already read up on this then forgive me, is the flooding.  Even if your not seeing flooded search results (although they cover a wide variety of files and types) there is a danger to using a unprotected primary on the WPN.  Not to you as an individual so much as to the community as a whole.  For that reason I would like you to have a look at this when you have some free time  that is:
https://www.winmxworld.com/tutorials/fake_file_info.html

So that said let me also say if you prefer 3.53 this multiversion has 3.31, 3.53, and 3.54b4 all with the patch that will protect you and the network.  Just a thought if you downloaded and saved this file
 https://patch.winmxconex.com
then you can easily switch back to 3.53 when ready.

So when Sam suggested the upgrade he was actually suggesting the patch upgrade not the WinMX one.. hope that clears that up.. many folks feel the same as you do about the 3.54b4 version of MX tho.

All that said HalOfBorg hope everything goes well and if you need anything or have any questions about the info above be sure to post back

I live in DeMotte, Indiana, though I used to live near Grand Rapids, Michigan, not too long ago.

I'm a newbie to winmx and it's been a positive experience. I've got 300+ files in my library so far but working hard on expanding it by the new year. This is a terrific forum and I'd like to give a world of thanks to everyone who made it possible.

Hi Blossom, this is actually a thread to say hello and stuff but since you ask.. the first thing you need to do to make sure your downloads are working the best they can is to download and install from here:

www.winmxgroup.com/

This file will patch your Existing MX and filter fakes for you.. give it a go and if you still have issues post a new thread over in Upload/Download issues

Hi Sarge!

Welcome to the site and welcome to WinMX...

You can share as many files as you like on WinMX but a browse by a secondary user shows 3000 and by a primary user shows 5000 as James said above.. happy MXing

Hi all. In London, UK. You guys are fantastic - I am SO happy that winmx is up & running but also that it's so stable ....I was using WinMX PIE patch but getting so many stability probs. Now I found you I have been gorging on masses of obscure stuff that I couldn't get hold of any other way! Glad to be part of the community again.

Sharing US TV shows - Logan's run to Heroes; Movies (all sorts); folk, Bluegrass and country music
