It seems for the last year I have had problems connecting to many users on the WPN. It has gotten much worse over the last 4 months or so. I'm able to connect to some users with no problem, but I have noticed that I'm unable to establish a connection with the same user's time & time again. I've set port forwarding rules for WinMX, but it has done nothing to remedy this problem. It's like there firewalled on their end, and maybe they can only establish connections on certain ports. I'm not sure what the problem is. After leaving WinMx running for 1 day I have about 40 to 50 of the following error messages below. Is anyone else getting the same 2 error messages with such frequency?

Timed Out (Waiting for network reply...)
File/User Unavailable

increase timeout values (default i think is 45... 300 is a good number...) verify ports are open... (might have to look around for a tool that works well for you) ... try running as secondary...

...and um... dont forget the continent of japan -- where the majority of MX users are... was literally moved 8 feet from its original position from the recent quake... methinks a few net glitches are in order...

I will give that a try Silver Stripes. Thanks for the Advice! I will report back in a few days when I have had time to see if that helped. Yes, my thoughts, and prayers are with Japan! I hope they see relief soon!
