I think this would be a great idea. Twitter is growing fast, even tons of celebs, and companies are using Twitter.

OK well there is loads of p2p on twitter i just found  also anti riaa and so on its great !   on the right of your twitter page you have a search feature simply put in there #and what ever you are looking for   for example #p2p       the list is big go through them and add to follow those you like when they write on their twitter it will appear on your twitter. Ive now got a twitter that posts as soon as a new movie is released on torrents within minutes of it being added !  no results for a search on #winmx though :-(

Anyone now in the twitter comunity who has  real time live searches saved for #p2p  or #filesharing   will now see a message ive added saying winmx is still alive with a link :-)

josh has made many winmx 'posts' to twitter (does anyone else feel like twitter is just an odd fad?) saying that its 'still alive' and posting the patchwinmx url.... if you could not find any winmx posts then apparently they are not popular enough to be found in the search or the search function is broken; http://twitter.com/winmx

we didnt have a winmx myspace so why would we have a twitter and what would you tweet?
There is no developement going on to winmx itself due to the lack of source code and most of the p2p relevant news posted here is about ISP and other networks.
Thirdly as stripes has said josh already made one.

When you state there's no development going on here Forester you are speaking for yourself, I for one know there is  :P

developement going on to winmx itself
The program you are making is not winmx.

And im very aware that there is still a good amount of third party developement going on.

Indeed it is not, as we all know the original creator of the program was forced to halt developement and close his peer caches because the RIAA knew that they could bully him financially into bankrupcy despite him doing nothing illegal nor encouraging copyright infringement, when big commercial interests are allowed to abuse good folks who are only interested in creating a global community of peers all interacting and supporting each other with their own creations then something stinks badly.

I am not a twitter or facebook user for the simple reason I dont wish to inflict my rather mundane life on others and I hope they too keep their business to themselves, perhaps when something good comes from one of these dot com social networking sites I may take more interest but for now its a nice place for young folks to reach outside their school playgounds to be heard but nothing more

Hey now I take offense to that!! I use those social networking sites like myspace and facebook. I feel as though they are a great way to meet new people from all around the world, just like WinMX. Even though WinMX is not a website, it has social networking capabilities.

I,m sure many folks enjoy such sites Xapien  :)

I really thinks its horses for courses, many extrovert folks enjoy such sites and from common sense introverted folks wont but my only real concern is that being a public member of a peer to peer file sharing support group may allow for you to be targetted by the cartel, they are well known for their illegal practices which include buying stolen emails and having their staff upload copyrighted files to get court orders to close sites down as well as the widespread atacking of folks on this network requesting a chat list on primary, with criminal groups like this at work I truly dont think its safe to paint a target on your backs by making your identities known to them, who knows what other crimes they will commit to get yet more headline grabbing publicity.

I am one of those introverts myself. What you see on here and in the chatroom is about as social as it gets. I don't go out to socialise much unless one of my friends at work wants to go hang out and do something I might but even that is very rare. It has been my past experience in several ocassions over the last several years just by me n mine letting 1 outsider into our lives all they did was tried to stab us in the back repeatedly. Now here on WinMX we have a good thing really but it's a constant battle to keep it to ourselves and keep everyone safe as you all know. The publicity we get from a handfull of various forums other than this is as open as I think we need to be. I don't even know what the "purpose" of Twitter is or what a twitter app does but if it puts us out there too far I'm not sure it's a good thing. As for facebook and myspace only thing I've seen come from facebook is buttloads of spam unsolicited not from people I originally joined to network with but any Tom, Dick, n Harry who came along and read one of my posts or the one of the friends I joined to socialize with and decided to send me a freakin hug or a wildabeast trunk or some stupid crap like that. I ended my membership because of it. And only thing I've seen from myspace is infected machines from people who live on myspace and check out every possable user on there. It just isn't my bag. I'm like Quicks. I don't see a need to post a sign on my back to make me easier to find in a crowd.

like nooks and GS... im not one to go out 'tweeting' "im here!" to random ppl either.... tho i will admit to having a 'livejournal' i rarely post in the thing and mainly use it to keep up with the private posts (note the word 'private' there) of friends that have been so since 'ye olden times' ...and i connect to IRC servers for chats with many others that i have gotten to know (basically like winmx chat but i have never been able to tolerate the buggyness of winmx chat for very long... esp when what i type shows up in the room 47 seconds later (my current record... average is 10 to 20 seconds.. regardless of room or 'clarity' of connection...)) and as always its just better to hang out with 'your group' in the non virtual world as well.... just be sure to keep an eye on that new person that another friend introduced you to for a while before 'letting them in' and you wont end up screwed over....

the extroverts of the world are a rather odd breed... but they have fun in their way and i have fun in mine...

GS put it as reaching outside of the playground for friends...
Having internet since i was 3 i will put myself as growing up in the age of the www
and say this... that to my generation the internet is the playground and is much larger and funner than any mulched lot with a swingset that your local politicians can fund to keep students from going nuts. With that said these are easier ways to spread to word without actually stepping outside and saying the word to everyone. but with that comes the responsibility... something microsoft might get a lesson in.

I took this screenshot myself yesterday and this is basically how you are spreading the word about winmx when you join these sites.

i have blanked the name sof people and myself.

But my point is you have a great big ad that lots of people see but your name is right down ther ein the corner with it. If you were to put im marrying billy. billys wife will come find you and who knows what she will do lol.

"presented by winmx" ? ..... what am i not understanding here?

so the web is the 'playground' of those born in 1990-something but.... other than advertising winmx using annoying and oft filtered out banner ads what are you getting at?

only thing i really gleaned from this post is why you are online with the different 'combinations' of the IM usernames you have at different times...

The point was that while twitter and myspace spread the word like an emergency siren when you have a bad connotation like... "stuff white people like" your name is right over in the corner so people know who to blame.
