This is a worth while cause, and let me just start by saying I couldnt agree more about these rooms being gone and me not loosing sleep over it.

That said I am interested in what plans you have, and what ways your planning to do this.

this is something that could be done almost instantly from a technical standpoint, however there are other issues to contend with... the biggest being the question of where do you stop?

once you start getting rid of one type of room you don't like, what's to stop people saying "well, we don't like animal porn either" so you get rid of them, then "we don't like any porn", then "we don't like file sharing rooms", and so forth, then you end up with the only rooms left being help rooms, which spend their entire time telling people where all the other rooms went... lol

Exactly my thoughts KM, I cant say i like these rooms any more then most normal users however, its not our place to be the judge and jury.  Its also not our place to decide what content is 'Allowed' on WinMX.

As I said I would be curious what your plans are as this could work great if your able to do this by the proper means.  After all this type of pornography is illegal and there are places and way  to deal with it in the proper legal manor as in reporting them and what information needs to be given in order to do this.

But if we are talking about attacking these rooms' hosts illegally also that is not something I would condone in any way shape or form.  Not because of the legallity of it but the principle of the freedom to be on WinMX and  the non existant rights to decide who else is worthy of that freedom.

the problem is simply we could never all agree on what goes; I hate child porn and the drones that create/sell/distribute/view it, BUT they might equally hate metal, or Spiderman or Sponge Bob. So who chooses? Put destructive technology against chat rooms in the hands of the Christian Right, sake of argument, and we'd all end with Shared files choc full of the wisdom of Pat Robertson and chatrooms extolling the virtues of abstinence, so like others have rightly pointed out, we cannot be in the business of saying this is tolerated and this is not, that is not the role of WinMX users.

Like the lady the other day who found child porn on her boyfriend's (now ex-boyfriend?!) PC, just report the loonies to the people charged with prosecuting them and leave it alone otherwise. The other thing we can do (which I do a lot) is Browse people coming into my queue, & anyone with child porn or Nazi sh*t gets lashed off and goes into the Ignore list. That way, I exercise my choice, others can choose to tolerate if they wish, and above all the system don't turn into a tool of oppression.

I agree with alert, not in his ways of doing things, but these room should be stopped. The only rooms that need to be gone are child pornography rooms. They should be reported to proper authorities such as the link that ME HERE has posted. There is no need to go in an spam rooms. You may humiliate them in your own room but not anywhere else. If someone comes in and askes if they may post it in there room let them. If you take those steps you will achieve your goal.

Ok I think I should clarify this better before we get off track here.

I would be upset with anyone that deemed themselves to be judge and jury of WinMX.  I am not upset with your self personally however, as I spoke to you about earlier I think you can see that this could be abused.

I origanally asked you what your exact intensions are and plans for removing these rooms from WinMX.  I never really received a clear answer on this and because this is a subject that really is important I will ask you again to please clarify for us exactly what your plans are.

I have seen plenty on your motives and they are noble and understandable, when speaking of Illegal Child porn.

I can go to the link I gave above and get a very clear explanation of what steps they take in dealing with this illegal porn and simply put, would appreciate if you could do the same for us.
