ISPs to block BitTorrent sites, says Italy

Italy is the latest country to put the interests of the corporate entertainment industry ahead of those of its citizens.

Italian judges can now order ISPs to block BitTorrent sites being used to “illegally disseminate copyright infringing content”.

And it won’t matter where they’re hosted.

“The judicial authority can now request that ISPs block access to The Pirate Bay and any comparable illegal p2p services,” crows Vivendi Universal, EMI, Warner Music and Sony Music’s IFPI (International Federation of Phornographic Industry) .

The ruling follows the Supreme Court’s review of The Pirate Bay case “originally heard in the Court of Bergamo,” it says, adding:

“The Supreme Court ruled that sites that host torrent files play a significant role in the uploading and downloading process of their users and constitute a form of complicity in the execution of the offences.

“It further ruled it was irrelevant that the service was not operated in Italy or by Italian citizens as it was used by Italians to distribute copyright infringing material.”

Why don't they just go the whole way and block the whole of the net ... its the only way they will stop it.
Don't these fools realise by now that for every single way they try to block users from access to sites then the users will find ten ways around it.
