IFPI Lose Another Case
« on: January 26, 2010, 05:43:04 pm »
Fresh from losing their last case against a UK based torrent site operatot the IFPI have been snubbed again, this time by the Chinese courts after making yet another ridiculous claim.

In 2008, Baidu was sued for around $9 million by Sony BMG, Universal Music and Warner Music for providing so-called “deep-links” to copyright music tracks. A court has now ruled that providing search results does not breach copyright law, clearing China’s biggest search engine of wrong-doing.

To the IFPI: If your going to continue mis-using the law to try to stop activities that are within the law then expect to pay the court costs again and again or better still hire yourselves a decent team of lawyers who understand the laws of the countries you intend to bring action in, to do otherwise merely shows how ignorant you are of national laws.

I,m sure other search engine operators such as Google will be very happy with this decision, based as it is on common sense.
