moni puts winmx down?
« on: April 08, 2010, 03:21:04 pm »
asus p5kc c2d 3gHZ  3gb ram  opensuse 11.2  kde 4.3.5  wine 1.0  winmx 3.54b  primary connection  roomhost using WCS  mxmoni 1.28Eb

I have been trying to use either leechammer or mxmoni  and for the most part have had success.
[Note: I am not running them at the same time.]
However:
   1] Currently using  MxMoni
I am falling out of rooms and have had complaints that people cannot enter my room
I have found Winmx shutdown and had to restart it {Moni was still running]
Has  anyone had any experiences like these.  Can ayone suggest where I should start looking to solve these problems?

2] Leechhammer clears my completed uploads even tho I have it set not to in Winmx settings
It makes the windows flash and jump also
I have posted about this problem elsewhere, but all that was suggested was that I go back to MXMoni.

Thanks

MXMoni shouldn't affect you hosting a room. Unless you are using the built in hosting features of WinMX I suppose it could cause some kind of issue there. In any event I'd recommend using a dedicated hosting client such as WCS, EServ, Ouka, FXServer or ZCS. WCS and EServ have Linux native builds while Ouka, and FXServe would require Wine and ZCS would require you to use Wine & Mono.

I've had the issue you describe where WinMX crashes randomly but MXMoni stays open. This is however I believe unrelated to MXMoni as I've had this happen when MXMoni is not even open. On both Secondary and Primary.

I have no experience iwth Leechhammer on Linux under Wine.

Leechhammer is known for instability the longer it runs

Certainly my experience was just that
restart it ever couple of days...

Moni is not normally unstable, and certainly should not interfere with hosting a room, altho there may be something in your settings...

I use Moni 1.3 without a hitch

ty Pri and Bluey

ok  so that rules out MXMonitor causing a problem.
I am using WCS 1.85b

Bluey  where would I get a copy of  MXMoni 1.3,  I could only find a dld for 1.28Eb

Don't use whois in MxMoni and it will work fine
Whois function will keep more ande  whois windows open and after you run it for a week or longer it will start using up all free resources by keeping those windows open.
The work around is to close MxMony after a few days and reopen it. Disabling whois will making kicking for number of shared files impossible, but all up/download queue functions will work fine

I have run both moni and mx without restarting either program or pc upto 6 months at a time...
never a problem..
leechammer glitches and clears completed uploads so I never like it..
but... I have never used Linux and these progs.. so I can't comment about this config
