Timed out (Waiting for incoming connection...)
« on: March 29, 2010, 02:04:00 am »
Hi guys and gals:

I have been using WinMx for year on an off and on again basis.  It's still my favorite p2p program.

Ok, this is the problem I'm facing:  "Timed out (Waiting for incoming connection...)".  I'm unable to download any files with anyone without getting this dreaded message.

I noticed I started getting these problems after I installed my Phone Power VOIP Grandstream modem to my Time Warner cable modem.  So I'm pretty sure that has to be the problem.  But I'm not sure how to rectify the issue I'm experiencing.  Any help?

I meant to say Grandstream Adapter for my phone that hooks up to my Time Warner Cable Modem.  I have a VOIP phone now that is provided by Phone Power.

Double check any port forwarding rules that you had set previously and make sure that your lan ip is still the same as in the rule

This is where I get confused.  I never once have done anything dealing with port forwarding.  How do I find out my LAN IP address?  And do I compare that with the IP address I have right now with Time Warner without resetting the modem?

The tutorials nylly pointed you to is the dummies guide.
When reef mentioned the ip and the rules he was refering to the ip that is produced on this page when you follow the commands.
https://www.winmxworld.com/tutorials/static_ip.html

that ip and the one used in the router is NOT the same as the ip that websites and the outside world see.
