It seems the abuse of the new legislation passed in the UK is about to start with the BPI aiming to become as hated as the RIAA are for threatening to sue the sick, elderly folks, children and anyone else they know cant pay, often merely to increase their questionable statistics on lawsuits that are usually just subpoenas and not an actual court based claim, leaving their intended victims with little chance of being able to challenge these multi billion dollar corporate Cartels claims.

Britain’s Digital Economy Disconnect Act is finally on the books.

Hacks at Vivendi Universal, EMI, Warner Music and Sony Music’s BPI wrote much of the text openly used by the British government, and the BPI now has an open door to revive a UK version of the failed sue ‘em all campaign originally launched by the Big 4’s RIAA in America in 2003.

BPI general factotum Geoffrey Taylor (right) revealed “exclusively” to Billboard that the BPI will “reluctantly return to suing individual file-sharers again in the period before technical measures potentially kick in around late 2011 or early 2012″.
Taylor says “potentially” because instant technical disconnect measures were abandoned by the government. The BPI clearly believes, however, that its ongoing lobbying efforts will eventually bear fruit.

We at WinMxWorld have been expecting this to occur and will now launch technical countermeasures that ensure users privacy is protected as far as we are able to do so, this will involve using the blocklist for short term disruption of automated search bots that have been seen before but not on a scale required to impact on users, We hope this doesn't cause any issues for any WinMX user but it must be stated here openly that those using unprotected host files and acting as primaries are likley to end up on the blocklist as they are the folks actually allowing automated searching of the network to occur, if this does occur it will be for a short time, just long enough to ensure the Cartel are not able to  spy on WinMX users and build up their files of who is sharing what and for how long, such commercial invasions of privacy are not warranted nor acceptable to us, we hope you share this view.

For those who operate the host file please update to the community patch or block the Cartel by other methods, currently the main threat comes from 38.107.160.0 - 255 but is likely to change, however by helping yourselves you will be helping the entire network and you will experience no problems, those that either don't care or are too lazy to help block these attackers will in all honesty likely find themselves on the blocklist for as long as the cartel have control of their facilities.

We thank you all in advance for your continued commitment to WinMX, as always we stand united with the community in this fight.
