https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-50930094The French government can go ahead with plans to trawl social media to detect tax avoidance, the constitutional court has ruled.
It said authorities would have to ensure that password-protected content was off limits and that they would only be able to use public information pertaining to the person divulging it online.
The mass collection of data is part of a three-year online monitoring experiment by the French government and greatly increases the state's online surveillance powers.
Given the quantity of BS and bombast found in social media land I can see problems with this already, we have all seen folks standing next to an expensive car for a selfie does that now entitle then to pay tax on the cost of the vehicle or will they be forced to admit some the of images on their stream are misleading
Will this new law also apply to French Govt figures they might also be shown driving fancy cars and living a life beyond their salary and not just on social media, lets wait and see
[PS] Are tax fiddlers the new pokemon, you gotta catch em all
