The Paris-based Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) said Monday that digital music piracy is a problem, but other factors--such as the rise in the number of entertainment sources--are more likely to have had a significant impact on music sales.
While the report found a "pronounced" fall in overall global CD sales of 20 percent between 1999 and 2003, and a particularly large drop in CD sales in the U.S., some countries, including France, Germany, Japan and the United Kingdom, are actually experiencing steady or growing CD sales.

Imagine that, after all the bluster and rhetoric they havent lost a single cent, why does that not suprise me ?

According to a music industry group, one out of every three compact discs sold last year was pirated at a cost to the industry of $4.6 billion. There was some good news to be found in the report, as piracy only grew 2 percent year over year, which was the smallest increase in half a decade.

Well folks , enquiries reveal that no actual data is about to spport this and no reputable names are in this report, your chioce who you believe, but no doubt this industry group will be asking for the usual law changes and tax breaks, that make their lives more comfortable at the expense of all others.
