Having problem to chat/message with friend and browse his files.

Hi all!
 I am wondering if anyone can help. My friend and I cannot seem to message each other, or  browse/ connect to each others files. I have put him in as a user in my hot list on many different secondary servers. I can see which servers he is on, but every time I try to browse him on those servers, it just says finished and shows nothing. Now just know, I am not referring to any chat rooms on WINMX. I just mean to message him as you would any user. He never gets the messages, nor do I get his. We have no problems connecting to other users, chat or browse. Does anyone know why this is???? Could it be a simple connection setting? I tried changing the ports in the settings box, and no other users could connect to me at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated..............FAITHFUL WINMX USER!!!

  I just wanted to add to my previous post. If anyone has ever used the hot list box chat option on Winmx-(which is like an instant msg. feature)-instead of clicking on those little white envelopes when u get a message-u will understand what I mean. When I open my hot list box, right click on my friends I.D., and left click on chat, I can chat/message people on mx. Now, when I try this with my buddy, instead of my user id beoing displayed as <aug0822>, it is displayed as <>...... My friend never gets the msgs. Usually you can see the written conversation with both users ID's displayed. Mine does not display when I try to message him. Anyone have any ideas why???? How can this be fixed????? It is very frustratiung. Any help is GREATLY appreciated!!!!!    FAITHFUL Winmx user!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!~~

At the top of each section on the hotlist it has a heading (should be just the "Temporary" heading if not using opennap)... if you right click that and select chat then it will do that - the title will just say " on " and messages will just have "<> text", so it's possible you right clicked the wrong place and got that if it was just the once (everyone's done that at least once with a moment of bad cursor control)

if however it always does it with the same user and not others... well, then something very odd is going on - you better not say that is the case or i'll have to pretend to miss the thread and get someone else to reply rather than say i don't know
