Jesse, Can you come to the winmxworld chatroom? Itr will be faster and someone will check if you can download and upload ok.
Click the chat button, click continue and type this in the filetr bar and click join. If nothing happens, then check for spaces at the end of the name.

I think I need to be connected and my winmx software can't connect, I have tried everything and nothings work. I've been without it for a while. It's no firewall blocking it. I really think since I just got a cable modem it's something to do with that. I used to have dial up. So I think it has something to do with the ports or router, I don't know whats wrong.

Go to www.portforward.com. See your router model there and there will be a tutorial on how to forward ports in winmx there.
Alternatively you can also use the winmxgroup 3.1 patch. It will automaticially forward ports in some routers or modems.

Jesse, one thing jumped out to me in what you said. When you try to connect, does it appear to try to use the dial up connection? If so, you can remove the dial up, if you don't use a fax software or another need for it that is, and disable your dial up network protocols/parameters like tcp for the dial up connection. It may default though the other network connection. Just a wild guess from me here.

Jesse you do not need to be connected to access the chat room if you can copy and paste the name into your Filter bar of the Chat screen, make sure your still on WinMX Version 3.54 or 3.53 and also make sure there are no spaces after what you copied into the filter bar.. look to the far right and click Join.

This will work even if your not connected to the Networks and have a flashing yellow light.

Also can you please check your WinMX Settings > Outgoing TCP.  Be sure this is set to the First option  'Do Not Use A Proxy Server (Connect Directly).  If not tick this one and restart MX.

I am also curious if your having any other problems accesssing pages on the Internet, lots of time outs or anything else happening that is not related to WinMX but is related to connections?
