Thats great to hear Nobby  8)

In just over an hour the new patches start rolling off of the servers folks, I hope we will all find something pleasing in the fact this has all been done professionally and respectably with very many parties involved in the overall project and long discussions to bring us a united community future where trust is restored and any anger that has existed is put once and for all aside for those network attackers that deserve it.

Whilst to many this is just another day, to this site and and those other sites who have worked hard to bring it about, its a victory, and one well can all celebrate  :-D

Pie have their own version of the dll, their own update bar and will maintain their own users, of course we don't mind helping those users here and visa versa now   but the installers are the same for both groups.

huh? if the installer is the same for both groups but the dll is different how does it know which .dll to install? and which config to use for the update bar?
* Silver Stripes is very confused O_o

EDIT: for those waiting for the 'early bird special' thats supposed to happen tonight (??) at 12PM GMT heres a handy site; http://wwp.greenwichmeantime.com/ shows GMT and your local time... needs JS enabled...

the installers will contain diffrent dll's that do the exact same other than supplying a diffrent update bar. In that way the isntallers differ. But they are them same installers /patch

so i take it you select WMW or PIE when installing?... ...right? or does it autodetect that... (somehow) or are there 'seperate' installers that the only difference is the patch config that gets installed?
* Silver Stripes personally likes the old fasioned 'debugger' bar that just says the version number of the patch and the FSR and BC numbers...

The latter, silver stripes.

Depending on where you get the installer from it will have a different update bar, but the functionality is exactly the same.
It will remove all old installs automatically, pie and wmw

Its going kind of smoothly atm Stripes, normally there are bugs and problems a-plenty but with superb installer and excellent patch it seems that there is little to go wrong and folks are changing over happily with no or minor issues, the worst complainer we have seen thus far was one who complained his MX was closed during the update

The numbers are not available to us yet as all hands are either in the help rooms or sleeping from a late night but I,m confident we will see a decent take up and many happy users.

A small update for those that wanted to know how things are going on the deployment front:

The initial release saw 60% of the dll users swap over, generating a massive traffic spike at the delivery sites, we are slowly creeping towards the 70% mark atm, yet downloads are more than this number, so in short this looks to me like some of the older dll users are holding back on actually installing  the newer dll but it seems they are at least grabbing a copy to test and hopefully will update at their leisure or next reboot.

Once again the heaviest traffic came from the Japanese folks closely followed initially by Canadian folks who where quick to get their copies, the US and UK users caught up the next day, Australia also figured in the downloads so we where able to see the key areas of usership and of course hopefully we are already delivering what the folks want to see for the english speaking nations.

We dont have an exact figure for mxpie.com traffic atm but I,m sure its a healthy chunk of folks using the new community patch and enjoying the benefits to the themselves and the rest of the community.

I,m hopeful that now is the time to get more user participation in site activities and prod the developers back to the grindstones, there is now no reason to not take the time and effort to reward the users for making the community patch a roaring success and of course ensure the future focus is on enjoying ourselves as a community, these are after all the rewards of peace.
