possible network fix?
« on: December 01, 2008, 08:53:35 pm »
Some dude come in the room the other day and i feel the need to post this theory.
he was using wine 1.? and after about 3 months he started falling from rooms.
i suggested that he change to an older wine(9.3) version (duh) and compile it from source.
that fixed his falling issues but he complained of slow connection times.
i remembered that winmx uses the winsock routine to connect (ws2_32.dll) and pointed him to a website with a windows 98 version of it(not the patch) and he claimed that fixed it. i havent had time to personally test this theory but if you would like to you are more then welcome to.
-also note that win98 had a ws2helper.dll file not sure if that will help but its worth a shot.
