Download has stalled?
« on: July 17, 2009, 04:49:24 am »
Help please!
I have winmx latest version(v3.54beta4) which I accquired yesterday. I began downloading a fairly large file (212mb) which took a long time as the download rate was not very fast (ave 3.6K/s). The download struggled on all night before giving up early this morning at 74%. The blue download box keeps reappearing in the transfer screen, but the K/s remain stubbornly at 0.00. The user I am downloading from shows a fluctuating rate of anywhere between 0.4 to 7.8 K/s.  I am using Vista, with normal windows firewall and mcafee security if that helps. Also, two other small downloads have gone through successfully since the big one stalled. Has anyone got any idea what caused it to stall, and how I might go about restarting it?

are you sure that the user you are downloading from has 100% of the file you are trying to download? it will 'stop' at whatever they have on their own hdd... 'browse' them to see if the file is finished or says 'incomplete' ... if its incomplete it will give you the % of it they have...

also... did you use the winmx from patch.winmxconex.com ? or elsewhere?

Hi, yes I did get the winmx from patch.winmxconex.com. The file seems to be complete within the users files. It keeps going red, then intermittently it goes green and forms a connection with the blue download box, but although I can see the K/s of the user, my own still remain at 0.00. Is it possible that the user has blocked me? Or is it some sort of glitch? Thanks.

if the user blocked you you wouldnt be able to browse them or start the download... so their might be a bit of a glitch..... heres an idea to try for it; right click the file and select "trim 10k from end of file" ... a box will pop up asking if you are sure you want to do it saying that it is an emergency fix for files that have corruption on the end (this could be caused by anything... dont worry...).... select 'yes' and try to continue the download...

when it turns red click the little + sign next to the file. if the user name that appears in the dropdown is pink select enter remote que and politely send a pm asking for a start.
He isnt required to start you but you can ask.
