Do I need Peer Guardian?

Hi,
I am using the winmxgroup patch. I read here that you don't need Peerguardian if you use this site's patch. So should I keep peer Guardian you trash it. I notice that whenever I am on primary and use Peer Guardian, still quite a few Ips that are blocked. One in every seven or eight or so.
Also do you know a place where I can get some OpenNap server lists. I never get any search results when I click 'Find Wsx'. :| Here too I have a problem. Whenever I add a list, connect and shut winmx after I am done. The next time I open Winmx, All the server name disappear
. It drives me mad to upload over 15 lists every time only to get about 30 servers online
Thanks
Sam.

the patch blocks them from connecting through you, peer guardian is blocking some of them as well - if you disabled peer guardian then peer guardian would stop blocking them, and the patch would block them instead
as for the opennap lists... httpss://archive.winmxworld.com/NapMX/

I troed out the opennap sit you mentioned. Do I need to load all of them? Anyway I did and when I ran the exe files, I got the following message:
'Component MSWINSCK.OCX or one of it's dependencies is not correctly registered: A file is invalod or missing'

I guess it needs the VB runtimes then... not sure which version you need, but try
this one
as it is the most common

Downloaded it and installed it. But still it won't run.
I don't need VB do I? I have it. But it hogs space. Do I need to install it?
I have version 6.
There was no 'need to restart' message. And I didn't. Does that make a difference?

Well besides testing the beast myself something I am not inclined to do just yet I,m not sure myself but ...
When the peer caches disappeared we had a whole folder of WSX files in the archive for folks to use and many of them still have active servers on them
httpss://archive.winmxworld.com/WSX%20Files/
( you can remove the dead Servers ), and once your connected to one you can search for more using the WSX search routine.

I hope that helps Samseesam

One thing. When I click on the links, i find that it opens to a large txt file. Is there anyway to download them as wsx files.

To make NapMx work, put a copy of mswinsck.ocx or any other files it asks for in the Napmx folder.Gotnap has a list of servers
http://gotnap.com/index.php?loc=list
If they aren't active they aren't listed, the list is linked to whatever servers are up and registered with gotnap.

My apologies for upping the thread.
With the new 3.0 patch is there anything new we need to know?
Plus, is there anything else that we can use to improve PG or WinMX security?
This is a most useful community!

Actually with the new patch 3.0 there is no need for PG2 anymore since the patch itself now gets the blocklist from winmxworld to block fakes.
In addition it also filters fakes from search results, so you should be safe as can be with the patch only
