Hello, using my phone as a modem in my PC, T-mobile UK i cannot connect to ANYTHINg on winmx, not even chat rooms when u have the roomname.. must be some way past it?

Are you using the WinMX client itself James ?

yes ive also tryed chat clients, i find it hard to belive every contact is blocked, even connecting to winmx chat, i cant connect direct to chat channels through any client.

I've been using a mobile connection for over 3 years and had the same difficulty as you describe when using the standard connection that comes with the phone.
The only answer that I found was to upgrade to a mobile broadband bolt on package or use a broadband dongle, I've been using both of these over that time and
both work flawlessly.
