Post Virus connection Problem
« on: November 10, 2010, 09:43:40 pm »
Hi Everyone,

I got a virus a while back and now, when I try to connect, I get an error message that says:

Cannot Find winmx.com/v354b4/mainbar/index.html.

This problem has also affected other program's web access like winamp

any ideas????

reinstall WinMX from here:

 https://patch.winmxconex.com

Select the winmx 3.54b4 option, and at the prompt, click 'Run'

The virus must still be around somewhere, or it did damage and you OS needs to be repaired. Run a full virus scan, not just a quick one, and make sure the threats found are removed and not moved to quarantine.

I've been working on it for two weeks...I suspect my IP is being hijacked.

If you are running a Windows OS don't forget that you have to turn off System Restore before running your virus check. It's also advisable to run it in Safe Mode.
