Radio, someone still loves you! Radioplayer has launched, making all BBC and commercial radio stations in the UK available on one website.

Radioplayer is a single, unified player for radio stations so you can listen to BBC and commercial radio stations through your browser, all from the same player. Listen-again features are also included. You can search by station, location, programme, presenter or area of interest, and then choose from any radio station and listen online. It's basically YouView for radio.

Radioplayer was built by the BBC, but is separate from a planned radio-only version of iPlayer. Commercial stations will not be involved in that player, but have been involved in Radioplayer. Clear?

Radioplayer's commercial partners are Guardian Media, Global Radio, GMG Radio, Absolute Radio and RadioCentre. That means you get Xfm, Heart, Classic FM and more, alongside Radio 1, 5 Live, 6 Music and the BBC's stable of local radio stations. Eventually, there'll be between 200 and 300 stations in total.

One snag is that Radioplayer uses Flash to play the radio streams. That means it'll work on your computer, but perhaps not on your phone -- specifically, not on your iPhone or iPad. A non-Flash-based version that will work on smart phones and tablets is in the pipeline.

Have a listen and see what you think. Are you radio gaga for Radioplayer?

Something for all you radio and music fans out there.  :gum:

Pretty good actually. It's good to have a straight forward access to such stations. Thank for putting the article up. The link to the webpage is  http://www.radioplayer.co.uk/

If they ever do a mark 2 version I'd like to see a descriptive blurb for the type of programming each station supplies for those of us who aren't familiar with them, and the ability to save favorite stations as short cuts.
