Is there a reason why I have not received my account activation email? It seems ludicrous that people have to wait for an admin to activate their accounts before they can even get winmx help

Admins review account activation to stop automated spambots creating accounts.

I don't see you on the list, can you try it again.

Also, as you have done, you can post and ask for help without an account, so you don't need to wait.

I sense some frustration in Patrick, unlike many forums we do appreciate that not all users wish to join the fine wmw site but we do have to have a way to stop spammers and other unwanted parasites posting here, thus only a few areas of the site are allowed guest posting and the rest are for registered members only, on the flip side of that and to allow self help in the first instance all public areas of the forum are viewable logged in or not, I hope that clears up the misunderstanding   :)

Well I re-registered with the same name and email, and yet again I got the "welcome to winmxworld" email but nothing else so far...

Hello Patrick,

I have approved your regsitration for you now.
What happened here is that the IP address you're posting from has been flagged as spamming.
In such cases the account needs admin approval as Ghostship has explained below.
I'm sorry for the delay it causes but we got up to 100 spambots trying to register per day and it's pretty hard to keep them at bay.
You did the right thing in posting here and it should all be sortet now.

I will move this to the feedback section as it doesn't really have anything to do with winmx ;)
