Like the other giants of the internet world, Facebook supports its online empire with a massive network of data centers and servers. And that costs money. Very large amounts of money. If you feed webpages to hundreds of millions of people, you’re spending mountains of cash not only on the machines themselves, but on the power feeding those machines.
