I was expecting to read a list of tools or toys that encrypt your on-line activity and keep you safe from the weak link between you and your ISP, so maybe its time we all added something to this list that will protect our privacy on-line, something that our so called representatives seem to have overlooked maliciously or by ignorance, either way it shines them all in a poor light.
Here's my list of useful items:
1 ) Use https://encrypted.google.com/
when searching on-line.
2 ) An alternative distributed search engine can be helpful in ensuring some company cannot be secretly forced to deliver up your search history, give http://yacy.net/
3 ) Secure your Instant Messaging transactions by making usage of IM privacy tools such as OTR
and for the more adventurous https://project.crypto.cat/
Theres a good deal of further tools to be had mentioned in this fine blog http://www.forbes.com/sites/jonmatonis/2012/07/19/5-essential-privacy-tools-for-the-next-crypto-war/
If we can all start to make usage of privacy enabling tools we can hopefully remedy the current imbalance that we face simply because inept and spineless politicians are either too stupid, weak or lazy to read the entire texts of the bills put before them before following their party lead, they are supposed to guard your freedoms but theres little of that when there are underhand deals to be had, their failures must not be your own, safeguard yourself and urge others to do the same.
