As time draws closer for the client, I'd like to get the ball rolling on thoughts for a name for the new community project.

Just to rehash what has been covered before, we cannot use winmx as the name is owned by frontcode.

I want to find something that ties together community, chat and file sharing, just curious on what you guys think.

My personal suggestion is WynnMX.

It would make the logo's of WinMX easy to modify (see attached.

Origin of "wynn"
Old English, literally 'joy'; http://oxforddictionaries.com/definition/english/wynn
which is what the new client is meant to bring to the community.

I think the tagline to the client (to replace the WinMX one of "The best way to share your media") should be:

WynnMX: Bringing "joy" back to the WþN

Many meanings all link with the current network, just my 2 pence worth.

MX in WinMx stands for media exchange
Mind Exchange Organisation would give a possible name MEO or MXO
Mind Exchange Community MECom or if that reminds to much on a delta by that name, MXCom

WINMX 2 -- keep it simple and traditional , besides we have waited so so long and been through years of waiting for this to happen that the name deserves to be resurrected. No doubt if the community revives as I believe it may there will be multiple new versions beta's etc... and don't ya love it that the haters and doubters will just have to suffer and know their efforts fell far short and that after all is said and done..here's part 2!

PS - I have noticed that people remember what they knew as a foundation for the service they have come to love. Not even the mighty pay service Napster changed their name and I believe to try and reinvent something that in spirit has weathered all the storms would be like calling the Jersey Shore something else. I just visited that part of the country this last weekend and while it is in the process of being rebuilt, it will be many years before it looks anything like the Jersey shore I remember. And seemingly like WinMX, many people have not returned this summer making for an almost eerie kind of ghost town appearance at times. But people will come back to The New Jersey Shore because it is there and the same will be true about WinMX ...as long as the name doesn't change too much and you can find it on a map........even rich people get bored and need a place to play.....

noone here owns the rights to the name 'winmx' -- that is owned by frontcode... also winmx 2 exists ... its an opennap client...
