This week, two companies have each announced their own all-in-one 3D printer and scanner. On Tuesday, Radiant Fabrication trumpeted the Lionhead Bunny, a $1,649 device that the company will make available starting next month (though it appears to be dependent on the success of its forthcoming Kickstarter campaign). In a statement released with its announcement, Radiant Fabrication wrote: For the first time, an integrated scanner and Li software simplifies recreating and modifying real world objects. Users can press the Scan button, place an object on the Lionhead printing platform, and close the doors. In a few minutes, a copy of the object will be ready in Li for any improvements to be made and one click of the Print button starts the printing process. On Wednesday, a rival Los Angeles-based firm, AIO Robotics, published its own Kickstarter campaign for its Zeus device. AIO calls this the “first and only device that allows users to 3D scan, print, copy, and fax objects with a touch of a button from one device.” (The machine appears to be selling for around $2,800.)
