China to Establish Police Presence at Major Internet Companies

The Chinese government plans to put "network security offices" staffed
by police at large Internet companies in that country. The goal is to
"catch criminal behavior online at the earliest possible point." There
is some suspicion that the plan is also part of the country's efforts
to censor what people in that country can view on the Internet.

In the short term this might annoy a few hundred million folks but I hope in the long term it will act as a catalyst to create a virtual wireless internet system that bypasses the traditional hubs of activity, I believe that is the way ahead when a govt tries to stifle the will of the people for its own political ends.

ofc such a thing need not rely on a specific product but maybe custom linux distro for regular wifi routers... mesh wifi? has this been done?
