Commercial Rights Holders Groups Unable To Shutter Pirate Bay

Despite launching yet another attack designed to close the Pirate bay it seems the copyright maximalist cartel have failed.

Quote
In a landmark decision, a Swedish court on Friday ruled that the country's internet service providers cannot be forced to block controversial Swedish file-sharing site Pirate Bay.
After considering the case for almost a month, the District Court of Stockholm ruled that copyright holders could not make Swedish ISP Bredbandsbolaget block Pirate Bay.
The court found that Bredbandsbolaget's operations do not amount to participation in the copyright infringement offences carried out by some of its 'pirate' subscribers.

The article goes on to mention that many other countries block the Pirate Bay but fails to mention that in most legal cases abroad no one turned up to oppose the order and thus the cases went undefended meaning it was just a matter of turning up to court and getting a rubber stamp on the order.
I hope the fact that the Cartels can continue funding all sort of expensive legal challenges is not lost on any here, they seem to have plenty of money when they want to launch speculative but monopoly enhancing legal attacks and plead poverty the rest of the time, If only they took so much care paying the creative artists what they are owed.

Not unless they are very dumb, OurMx is 99% decentralised and thus theres little to attack, if they do try to hit the 1% then there are extra measures to drop that percentage to even less (node caching measures etc) and to implement direct node access (add ip and press connect) these counter measures can be added prety rapidly if they want to try their luck and attack, I like to think they wont break the law if we dont.
