Running Win !0 ?  :o

We already knew Windows 10 Threshold deleted third-party data monitoring tools and cleanup tools, including stalwarts like Spybot and CCleaner. It even disabled Cisco’s VPN software. Just a bug, said Microsoft.

This year Microsoft introduced background tracking services called DiagTrack, the data that DiagTrack collected was typical of a spyware programme. The only way you knew you were being monitored was by eyeballing the list of running processes in Task Manager. As Microsoft explained:

Quote
Examples of data we collect include your name, email address, preferences and interests; browsing, search and file history; phone call and SMS data; device configuration and sensor data; and application usage.

Users thought it had disappeared in recent Windows 10 builds – but it hadn’t. Microsoft had simply renamed it.

The sinister-sounding tracking app was now the beatific and caring “Connected User Experiences and Telemetry Service”. Once again, it needs to be disabled manually.

Once again no suprise but it is starting to look like the actions of a desperate company trying very hard to catch up with the spying capabilities of Apple and Google and finding the intended victims are too savvy.

It shows again that the leopard doesn't change its spots. MS had a chance with w10 to gain itself some good will after years of shafting the users by giving away the new OS and correct its past bad behavior, only to again seek to exploit them.

this doesn’t seem to apply to win7?? ive googled (well duckduckgo but same difference) and it seems the snoop update for 7 doesn’t slurp up data like the 8/8.1/10 version... (there is still an active win7 machine floating around the house that doesn’t belong to me so i ask for advice)
