France Considers Blocking Tor, Public Wi-Fi
« on: December 09, 2015, 04:50:57 am »
The French government may be considering banning public Wi-Fi networks
and Tor, according to documents leaked from the country's Ministry of
Interior. One of the bills that may be introduced to French Parliament
next month would prohibit free and shared Wi-Fi during states of
emergency. The other bill seeks to "block or forbid communications of
the Tor network."

..meanwhile.. that random payphone and/or burnphone  works fine.... blocking tor and shared wifi?  are they really this paranoid? do they not realize how flexible methods of communication can be?

The French Govt need to man up, the whole point of terrorism is to force your will upon an unwitting number of folks, by acting against your own people in this manner you signal that the terrorists have won the day and forced you to do things that are normally morally repugnant.

Freedoms that have been fought for over centuries should never be traded in for a false offer of security, pretending to folks that you can stop every nut-bob if they surrender their rights and freedoms is just plain stupidity, some backbone is required here.

Despite recent stories in Le Monde indicating that France was
considering banning the use of Tor and blocking pubic Wi-Fi during
states of emergency, the country's Prime Minister Manuel Valls said
neither action will be undertaken.
