wpcc issues
« on: December 21, 2015, 01:10:06 pm »
Hi All,

Had an issue through the help room tonight of wpcc acting weird and error/virus messages popping up.

It seems that the domain which emulator coded for his update bar has been used to point to advertising/spam sites.

The easiest fix I found was to edit your hosts file and add

Quote
127.0.0.1   www.emuware.org

anyway you can stop your computer trying to communicate with www.emuware.org should work.

Thats probably the easiet solution Silicon, I took a peek through the older versions of  WPCC in the Archives and those had a seperated update EXE and a domain that was

http://www.emulator.netsons.org/

Its trivial work to patch it once the programs been unpacked (UPX), but a simple host file fix will do the same job no messing.

Do we have any of the newer WPCC versions as it seems we are short a few ?

Silicon pointed out this location to me in response to my question folks.

Obviously this version will for now require the Host file entry mentioned above to prevent unwanted annoyances from whomever holds the update location presently.
