Good news for all fans of WinMX !!

The same programmers have created the new WinMX on a perfectly functioning network !! The new client is called Fopnu.
with Google search for Fopnu and try it!!

Fopnu is identical to WinMX in aesthetics and its functions, except for openNap network, it supports a large number of sharing files, and allows the share of large files !!

Please try to download it and you will be excited.

I ask you to spread this news on all forums and on the old OpenNap network.

Now we can have a perfectly working and competitive WinMX !! WinMX is back !! It's called FOPNU !!

I shall have to consult some of the staff here to see if thats possible as its not strictly WinMX related but until someone sets up a Fopnu support site it might be possible 

I agree also this is a very exciting developement and we are all watching it carefully

Now it's very important to share many files on the new network so that newcomers do not become discouraged and return to torrent or emule.
I'm sharing over 7000 files with Fopnu. I hope this message will reach everyone WinMX fans.
Let us know the programmers that we are following their project and are spreading it.
We can write on the Fopnu forum.

Although it looks promising I feel it not to be smart to drop WinMx existing network and the efforts to develop a full functional client.
It will be and has proven to be very hard to shut down our user based community.

a single addition under '3rd party stuff' would work... it wouldnt need its own header since fopnu has its own forum on its own site... and if such does get created plz to move all the fopnu posts to it? its a bit confusing to remember who said what about it where

I am aware of the benefits of centralising matching topics however its proving hard to find anyone who is supportive of taking this direction for the new network, further efforts are still being made.

I posted a notification asking for comments some days ago and have heard nothing back yet,  its a bit disappointing but it may also be that they are all busy doing something off-net, being democratic can be annoying but its the only real way to run a volunteer site in the long term.

Version 1.18 is now available. The following changes were made:

    peer browse is much more efficient and reliable
    browse view caches contents to make navigating folder structures much quicker
    load-status for browsing folders is displayed in size column and bottom status
    new refresh and stop menu options when right-clicking expanded browse folders
    fixed problems in GTK treeviews that were causing expander lockout when display updating rapidly
    protocol enhancements to make browse loading status more detailed
    fixed minor inaccuracy of file counts in browse
    browse response throttling and better rate-limiting
    better mixed IPv4 / IPv6 location tracking for chat room members
    fixed problems in search view that prevented double-click download in certain situations
    tuned network ping intervals when in connecting mode to provide quicker recovery after network disruption
    minor changes to network peer hinting procedures to provide quicker startup

I'm trying it in GNU/Linux and it runs and integrates perfectly with my desktop environment, tough it resembles a lot the look & feel of the original WinMX which it's really appreciated.
