Music Streaming Service Introduces Explicit Lyric Filtering

Spotify, the UK's biggest music streaming service, has started testing a way of filtering out songs which have explicit lyrics.
Since 2011, streaming music providers have been expected to display the word "explicit" next to tracks that record companies believe are unsuitable for children.
Currently more than a third of the Top 50 songs in Spotify's UK chart contain explicit lyrics.

Others have complained that the setting. which is only available to Premium users, does not have a Pin code and can be changed by anyone with access to the device.

When a business reaches a certain size it becomes a target for law suits and this is likely to become a trend at Spotify in terms of creating a more financially sound and corporate style entity, expect the big "enhanced membership " drive soon.

if 'bad' language is that common why are we (as humans) censoring it at all?

Gotta protect the children. As they say.

Basically anytime anyone wants to censor anything it's cause of the children. My kids know some bad words, but they also know that they're bad and not to utter them. Parenting appears to be a lost art with everyone wanting the services and governments to raise their kids for them instead.

Honestly drives me crazy. Our freedom of expression is being eroded every year that passes by.
