Connected...errr...well...not really...

Greetz!

Long time WinMX user here...never really had any issues with it until all the Network changing, patching, RIAA blocking (which I'm all for) started..  Now, after a clean install of the 3.54 beta 4, I am running into connectivity issues that are making MX all but useless.

Problem:
1 - I can connect as a Primary but searches yield nothing, hardly any rooms in the Chat Listing, and people can connect and d/l from me but I have a hard time connecting to them to download.

or

2 - I can connect as a Secondary and searching and chat listing work fine however, people cannot seem to be able to see the files I am sharing (and thus queing them is a problem.. only users in my queue are those that hit me via search) + I cannot seem to download with any kind of reliability (speed fluctuates between 1k/s - 3k/s or abruptly cuts connection). The network isn't "jumping" on me because my "Time Online" stays constant and doesn't reset...

Specs:
XP + SP2
Cable
Netgear Wireless Router (but Ports are forwarded on both the router and XP's firewall to allow the 'default' ports of 6699 & 6257)
WinMX 3.54 beta 4 + Install 1.9 fix
Peer Guardian 2

Ideally I'm looking to make a Primary connection and not have issues with chat room listing and, obviously, no dl/ul issues...  searching is not *as* big a deal since I mostly do my P2P'ing w/ users in chat rooms...

Any suggestions are appreciated! Thanks for all the hard work you guys have done in keeping this fantastic program up and running. ~Cheers!

Could be worth while looking into whether your ISP has implemented a blocking policy as it appears your ports are open well enough with you mentioning some chat rooms being listed back whilst on primary, and transfers 'working'.  The whole "speed fluctuates between 1k/s - 3k/s or abruptly cuts connection" smacks at ISP filtering as a best guess.

P.S.  It might be worth changing your TCP/UDP ports to pretty much anything other than 6699/6257 (pick numbers between 1-65535, reconfigure your router/firewall(s) and restart winmx).

Changing the ports I was forwarding for WinMX pretty much did the trick. Connected as a Primary and getting great speeds on both UL/DL. Thanks for the advice. Cheers!
