Ok, I have some video files I want to send to a friend of mine. The problem is she is on dial-up (whereas I have cable) and the video files I want to send are rather large. They'd probably take her days to download at a time.

I've tried sending over messengers. That either didn't work or took too long. I've tried winzipping and winraring files. They only shrunk the file size by 20 megabytes or so (if that).

I then tried upload sites. Those still took a while for her to download (even took a while for me to upload).

I've tried chopping it up and sending piece by piece. Also a rather time consuming process. I'd rather get it all done at once.

Are there any programs out there that can take a 400 megabyte (or so) file and zip it or compress it enough so it doesn't take a long, long time to send to someone who isn't as blessed internetally (I made that word up, and just copyrighted it) as I am?

I am sorry to say the main problem here is the fact that your friend is only on dial up so really to say no matter what you do to your file your friends dl speed is allways going to be limited.

The only answer i can really think of is if you have a dvd burner and your friend has a dvd rom u can put the files you wish to send on a dvd disk as data then post it to your friend.

A standard dvd disk will allow you to put 4.7 gig of data (about 12 400meg files) onto it.

That i am affraid to say is going to be your best answer unless your friend can get something like broadband?
