Sweet

Did you forward the port found in the FXServe config.

You will need to forward this port in the Router and Firewall.

For instructions on how to forward the port in your router please visit http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Netgear/DG834G/default.htm

Use TCP for the protocal.

Hope this helps

Sweet get your Internal IP number like this:

Click Start > Run.. then type in this  cmd  now click the OK button.
In the black box type ipconfig /all now click the Enter button.

You will see many numbers on this screen.  The picture below shows the ones you need to use.

Use your Default Gateway for accessing the router. (remember yours may be different to this picture).
Use the Internal IP for when you set up your rule (some routers require you to enter this).

Okay.. i am a bit confused here

You say thats your IP address then no you wont use your IP Address to get into the router

You use your Default Gateway for accessing the router.

If 192.168.0.4 is listed as your 'Default Gateway' then yes its the access so http://192.168.0.4/
If this is listed as your IP Address then No http://192.168.0.4/ will NOT work

Sweet if your netgear is not responding to the Gateway IP address then the only other thing to do is contact the makers ie: Netgear and ask them for help in accessin the router.

If you have your manual still there should be a phone number or website listed to allow you to contact them.

Yes this same problem would keep folks from connecting to you to get files from you.

The fix is for WinMx:

Access your router and forward a port for TCP (usually 6699) and UDP (usually 6257)

For the fx server (or any host server), forward a port 6698 or 6688 etc.. (as long as it matches what you have in your config.ini file). for TCP.

this should give folks access to your room your hosting and allow you to share files on Winmx using either secondary or primary.

Hi Charlie,

This sounds like your typical router issue.. but are you using Norton AV with Worm Protection.

If so follow the instructions here:
https://www.winmxworld.com/tutorials/norton_2005.html

Could you tell me what router model and name you have.. then I can see the exact config for it?
Have you made sure that WinMx is either allowed on tcp and udp ports in your XP firewall or that its off?

Let us know...

Sorry Pussnboots540,

Its a WinMx Peer Network Room, so you access it from the WInMx Program.  Click on Chat.  That Help room name sometimes changes the numbers on it, meaning that you would need to put WinMx into your filter bar for the Channels.  Look for WinMxWorld.com_number here.  Click on it it join.

Once you find that click on us to join, there someone can help you determine if your problems are settings and where?
Just because you never had problems before doesnt mean something hasnt changed with your router.. just FYI on that.. internal Ips assigned by it can change anytime you reboot if they are not set static for example.

For now leave it all to Unable and also remember to use the filters when you search, fake files show as available for download also, doesnt mean they are available.

Have a look at this:
https://www.winmxworld.com/tutorials/filtering_fakes.html

Also just so you know.. your not a bother.. this is what we are here for to try to help, we aint perfect, we aint always able to get everything in perfect working order,, but we try.. lol

Should I always have to go TO FIND SOURCES ?

Right click the file in your queue and click search for alternative source, it'll open the mx search window and look for alternative sources using the hash code at the end of your incomplete file.
If it's a popular file it'll find a lot of alternative sources so you can resume downloading your incomplete file instead of having to download the file from the beginning again.

Do you know how to set up WinMx for Verizon DSL?  I'm getting no uploads or downloads when using my westell 6100 DSL modem. My OS is W98SE.
