I just wanted to ask if anyone else as noticed that there is not as many users on the network as there was before is this because the patch information is not available everywhere or is it because the patchs are to much hassle or is it because people dont care

Hi Faithless, I think you have hit the nail on the head here, although computer savvy users are finding the patches and employing them, the vast majority of the former users have been unable to find the patch or reconnect,
Many users had got connected years ago and as they where unable to get the info for reconnecting some have indeed gone elsewhere.

Its not all bad news on those users though, we are still seeing users return to winmx after trying other networks and hearing that winmx is still operational  :)

I would ask all readers here to please use every method they can to advertise our network, perhaps a small discussion on your favourite forum or just google and join forums that think we are closed and put them right.

We need to get WinMX back over the million member mark and can expect many student users during the summer months if we can get the word out in a sensible fashion.

Each new or returned user is a victory against the global media cartels who wish to deny choice and a fair deal to the consumer as well as stifle any new artists not under their control.
We should all be proud to share copyright free music and open source media put out by those who make music and programs to entertain, rather than line an already bulging corporate wallet.

i will agree there ghost but one thing that gets me annoyed is we have all of these resources like joshs website www.winmxisback.com and others like winmxworld and no one seems to pay attention to them and speaking of josh recently he as impressed me but it still will take more work from him to make me respect him more

Josh has come a long way in the last year I think, he is a determined individual who is able to take a few bad words and still return to the job in hand.
We have seen him be more productive in the last year than ever before, he has not been snow white most definitely but for his age he has done a lot for the community and should be recognised for such, the so called destroyers of winmx are those it seemed who have made the most effort to keep it running, funny old world.

I am planning to return to the WinMx Network with some fresh ideas
my ideas are as follows

2* PC Running WinMx Continously
1* PC Downloading Of Torrent Sites And Sharing The Downloaded Media With WinMx Pc's

This will mean that my catalog of music will soon be sky high and WinMx users will have access to all

What do you think ghost

I do computer repairs locally.  Once in a while I will work on a computer with winmx installed on it.  I will ask them if they have patched it, and they don't know what I am talking about.  I direct them here and vladds forum.  I don't patch it for them (just because I don't know if I can get in trouble for it) but I tell them there are 2 patches available and let them decide which to use.  I also suggest to them sherwood and peerguardian.  So there are alot of people out there who don't know anything about the patches, the ones I tell are only local.
