i need some help i my son
downloaded music from winmx 8 months ago and was wondering if anyone has been sued by winmx that used it or went to jail over it
and has anyone sued winmx since they are shutdown
because he quit downloading the minute he knew it was illegal shouldnt that count for something
will he now or ever in the future ever be in legal trouble

well, considering how many million users have used winmx, and the fact that none have had any problems with it except a small handful in japan... don't think you have much to worry about

the closest they have come to causing any kind of problem to anyone using any p2p network is making demands that you pay money, they have not actually sued anyway because the few attempts they did make have all failed

Hi Glenna, no one here has a crystal ball but the mere fact that there are rather a lot of winmx users on the network should show you that its not such a bad place to be,

Most countries allow downloading, its uploading that has the potential to get folks into hot water.

If as you say your son has ceased doing what he feels is wrong then I think you will be ok, many users on this network share open src programs freeware and yes even religous texts along with copyright free music so please dont get the impression that everything that goes on on the network is against the law this is truly not the case.

No user has gone to jail for using winmx, copyright infrigement is not a criminal offence but merely a civil matter that has to be pursued by the aggreived party (The copyright owner)
