Hi Gang,

I have almost 10000 tracks, mostly singles in my Library and noticed at a friends house he could only browse the first 5000. I know this does not really matter as I assume that the search engine will still list the remaining titles not shown, but I am not sure. So my questions are:

1. Though people can not browse all my files, will they still be able to find them on a search?
2. Without splitting my music library in 2, is there anyway I can rotate my files so others to browse the part not listed now.

Hey Tower,
No they will not be able to see beyond the 5000 mark to my knowledge.
WinMx will only upload 5000 files, and it does this alphabetically. So there is no good way to rotate the files unless you split the folder. And there is no way to share more then 5000 on primary and 3000 on secondary. So the best thing to do is to have lists of files that you have available. You can do this with a text document, I have seen folks with files that are named like so:

A track you want.mp3.txt
or
File I have on Disk.txt
etc..

This is the best way I can think of to get folks the information of what you have available.

Hi there, I came in to find info on this topic. I have to have a secondary connection as my connection is thro a router (LAN) because I have 2 PCs networked together, therefore I can only show 3000 files at a time, whereas I actually have around 6000 which I want to share. I have succeeded in logging in with two different user names from the two computers, but my question is: Is it possible to have more than one Identity for winmx from one computer? All help gratefully received! Lin (UK)

you can have 1 copy of winmx running on a computer at a time, you can have different copies of winmx installed with different settings and switch between them, or have a copy running on each computer or whatever...

you can also use various programs to get past the limit of running one copy of winmx at a time, though it's probably not worth it - share half on each computer would be easiest
