Any non Mpeg Video File

I have a real problem with them. I can never open any of them espicially avi and wmv files. They have the message :
Sending request for codec then
error downloading codec
and finally' the codec couldn't be downloaded WmP cannot open this file

or something like : 'The file is damaged or corrupted. Please .......'

you probably don't have the correct codecs installed, there are several codec packs that contain the common codecs that you could use (for example "codec pack all in one" is the one i use... because it has the easiest to remember name for googling on a clean install... heh)

however the codecs for wmv files wmp should be able to download automatically (as well as a few of the ones for avi files) but you can manually download them from the microsoft website

From the sounds of this it looks to me like you are tring to use windows media player to view your files with?

I myself used to use codec packs but found they use up a fare bit of room on your hd

I now use VLC Player
this has so far played all my files no matter what the format and i have not one single codec installed you can find this free player here

VLC is a player that comes with the common codecs, downloading the codecs separately allows any player to use them, wmp, winamp, or whatever player you chose to use (personally... winamp)
