I have loaded the 'patched' version and although I can connect OK I cannot load the chat list, whois myself nor search for WinMx and OpenNap files at the same time. Nor can others whois or browse my files. Any suggestions please. I can connect with both Primary and Secondary connections.

You probably need to either forward ports in your modem/router (most likely) or revise your firewall rules to allow them
www.portforward.com have exellent guides for most routers & modems with NAT built in
