Seems the lackies at the BPI  are claiming that they are winning the p2p battle when independant figures show thats BS :roll:

The British record industry claimed today that it is winning the war against internet piracy, despite suggestions the major labels were slow to embrace the trend towards digital music.
The BPI announced that legal download music sales in 2005 have already passed 10 million – almost twice the level for the whole of 2004.
The organisation, which represents the major record labels in the UK, said the figures were proof that its campaign against illegal downloads, which has included bringing court actions against parents whose children illegally copy music online, was paying dividends.

Dividends from dragging children to court  ?

I think the gurus behind that great scheme are sad, selfish, sick, sh..  Well you get the picture folks, using children in this way is beneath contempt.

Statistics released by media tracker BigChampagne indicate that the average number of simultaneous, individual connections to P2P networks increased to about nine million by June 2005, a 2.6 per cent increase over May, and a 20.1 per cent jump over June 2004.
Get it? Nine million people at any one time are a marketer's dream and a record company's nightmare. As broadband use continues to expand, P2P can only become more popular.
Music accounted for 74.3 per cent of the total download, "other videos" 8.9 per cent and movie files two per cent.

Increased P2P use. Seems like the more publicity that the Cartels give to it, the more folks are hearing and trying it out.
