Loading/Finding Sources for Incomplete files
« on: July 20, 2005, 10:49:31 pm »
After loading incomplete files, is there any way to auto find sources, and enter auto Q for all files, i.e select all files simultaneously. Thankyou

Hi Ossieb,

There is a way to set your Auto Find Sources (AFS) and Auto Enter Que (AEQ).

Go to Settings > Search > on the list on the right choose the Auto Find Sources > choose 10 mins, then on Auto Enter Que choose 100.

That should leave em set for all your incompletes.

Happy file finishing....

Thankyou Me Here for your advice, I tried this and the incompletes are not Auto setting after shutdown and startup. Should I also reset default settings ?  Is there a way to " Select All " incompletes, then apply the auto settings?  Thankyou

Ossieb,
Go to back to your settings > File Transfers > the second one on  the list is Clear incomplete downloads after .....
Make sure that box is not ticked.  Then go to your transfers screen and click on Load Incompletes.. Now you should have it set in the Default AEQ, and AFS already ..so just highlight each of these newly loaded incompletes and choose Auto Find Sources change it to 10 mn, then change the Auto Enter Que to 100 .. after this you should have them on your screen looking and entering ques every time you start up Winmx...

Let me know...

Hello Me Here,
I followed your instructions, i.e. not ticking clear incomplete downloads box, however the AEQ and AFS are still not coming up when I restart Win MX, I am having to manually enter these at each start up.  I'll keep fiddling with it to find solution,,  Thanks for your help

Hey ...

Humm did you change this from the settings and not just the search window.  The search window is only temporary

If you change it in Settings > Search > then click the button on the right side  that holds your AEQ and AFS preferences ..

I can not say i know of any other way to make it permanent..that usually works fine..

 :(

Hello Me here,
I followed your instructions and I am still unable to get my incompletes to launch upon startup, should I be doing something in the file launching in Settings ? Your advice is much appreciated . thanks

Ossieb,

When you click the Load Incompletes button on the transfers screen and do they show up ?

If they are NOT showing up they are in the wrong file and WinMX cant find them
In this case go to the settings option and click on File Transfers then at the top you will see the file they are supposed to be in (Incoming File Folder).  Then go to your computer and open that file and make sure they are listed there...

If they do come up on the screen when you click Load Incompletes[/], then it seems you will have to maually AFS and AEQ, once this is set from the settings option theres not much else that should need to be done..

Thats about the best I can think of ....

Hello Me here,
I finally found a solution to loading incompletes which is so simple I feel like a dunce. I simply selected first incomplete, Then SHIFT and select Final incomplete. This selects All , then I went to my AFS and AEQ and all were done.

I have another problem which i need some assistance with. I have an external drive F:\ which was always listed as New Volume F. I now cannot access the files on this drive, and it has changed to Local Disk (F:) and the light on the external drive is blinking. I have a firewire and USB in this drive. Could you please suggest what the problem may be ?

Try looking at the properties tab on that drive and see how its set up, also files sharing between drives can be disabled and this could also be the cause, but start at properties and see what you can find out there.

Hello Ghost Ship

Thankyou for your advice. It helped me pinpoint a problem. I purchased a San Disk Cruzer USB storage device and it has called itself F: Drive Removable disk, the same as my external drive , which was new Volume F: . Should I try and rename the Cruzer to another letter say S: Drive, and how should I go about this  ? I tried to rename it through the icon on My Computer for that drive, which was unsucessful  Many Thanks

Removable storage gets assigned the next available drive letter, to get it called G I suggest plugging it in with your removable drive (F) already in place.

i set my mp3 players to X: (never plan to have more than one plugged in at a time btw), then any other removable drives get assigned random letters - that way i can distinguish between an mp3 player and another drive (that plus my mp3 player maintenance program doesn't go and wipe the contents of every drive i plug in and replace the files with random tracks like it does with X:)

normally no real advantage to using a different drive except if you plan on using 2 drive at once then it can be useful if they get the same letter each time so you know which is which - although a label on the drive can be just as effective (new volume is perhaps not the most descriptive label)

Thanks Bearded Blunder , KM  All
I have tried the most recent suggstions however it is still not recognising the files. I checked in the Device manager and it reveals that it is being classisfied as a Generic Volume in the Volume Manager, I cannot find this location. Any suggestions please
                                             Thankyou     Ossieb

You can search for only 5 file sources at a time. Is there anyway to increase that number?

One more thing. I notice that when you have more than a certain number of non active downloads, winmx automaticially clears some of them on the next time you start it. Is there anyway to prevent this?

Cheers
Reconnect to winmx with the blocking patch :)

5 is the limit for finding sources, there is not way to change that number.

As for a limit on the number of incompletes you can load, we believe its around 100 area, I myself tested with 30 and they all loaded, as long as I had them set to Auto Find Sources at 10 min, and Auto Enter Que at 10 they showed up when i started MX.

well strictly speaking it's not impossible to find sources on more than 5.. BUT, there are sound & good reasons not to use QuickMX....
