Hi AfterLife,
Glad the site has been helpful for you and dont hesitate to let us know if there is anything you would like to see added.

About the Beta of WinMX, yes there is a beta version available to the public for use and its an excellent beta.  Unfortunatly we havent seen a sign from Frontcode on making this beta an official version as yet.

Have a look here to learn more: How to Get WinMX

Tried to install the beta, but get an error message and installation stops and closes.

Currently using WinMX 3.53 with WinXP Pro SP2.

Inorder to complete installation, during the testing of your tcp connections you MUST stop the test and say configure manually,  then set your ports accordingly..

Tcp = 6699  or whatever you had originally
Udp=6257  ditto for what you had

Then complete the installation and install the Patch W2_32.dll from our home page and restart winmx

That wasn't the problem. Manually configuring WinMX was always the norm as I have always used port forwarding. The problem was I forgot to install

ws2_32.dll

I also had to delete the shortcut that I used for WinMX 3.53 and use the WinMX.exe (the beta) as a desktop shortcut. Once I did that I got rid of that error message that closed the prog. Everything works. Thanx for the help.

Have a goodnight.
