Connections Time Out
« on: June 18, 2006, 05:18:26 pm »
Every time I try to download a song or someone tries to upload a song from me, the connection times out. Im using a secondary connection, I have opened ports 6699 and 6257 on my router. I get plenty of results when I search but every time I try to download something it always times out and I want to be able to share my songs with other people. Please help me.

Steve more then likely your finding fakes do download.. and you also may have a port porblem not allowing others to upload.

First step:

Make sure you have this patch:  www.winmxgroup.com/

This will automatically filter fake results and ensure that the ones you attempt to download are real.

Download it
Shut MX off
Install it
Restart MX.

As for your uploads have you checked the XP firewall is off or configured

Ypu will have to forward your ports to your router. The defaults for winmx are:

TCP: 6699
UDP: 6257

Go to www.portforward.com, look up your router model there and you can learn there how to configure your router to allow these ports for winmx.
Also, please be sure to allow winmx in any firewalls that you may have.
Please tell what happened

Cheers :)
Reconnect to winmx with the blocking patch :)

Your router will also have a guide on general port forwarding (in the userguide/manual), usually in .pdf format somewhere on the cd supplied with it, sometimes in a printed manual.. just in case you have one that's so new portforward don't list it.
Blessed is he who expecteth nothing, for he shall not be disappointed.
