Author Topic: need help with Ouka 5.xx and MXcontrol (Read 3433 times)

I have been trying for a week to set up a fully functional chat room and its driving me crazy!!
Ive never tried to host a room b4. I have the tutorials from this website and they are very helpful, however, they dont go into detail about the things i need the most...
O.K....I opened a chat room and programmed it with chcfg2.txt that me here had posted.(Very helpful, Thank you!) Then i follow your tutorial on setting up Ouka chat server...then i try to connect it to the room and i get nothing...i attempted the loopback interface but now i got 2 sets of room numbers next 2 the room name....ques. "when i type in the channel name in the channel settings box, in OCS, do i include the numbers or just the text name?" (its not specific on the picture, just says "your channel name here."

MXC just keeps telling me that the room is not valid... :roll:

my setchannel is visible at setting "1"
I have checked my ban list and its empty
i gave WINMX, OCS and MXC seperate usernames to avoid any clone user settings
Please help me cuz its so bad that im dreaming about it

Flyboy, welcome to the site...

First off you need to decide if you want to host with the Ouka Chat Server (OCS) or with WinMX. Technically they are two separate hosting programs.

If you decide to use the Ouka you will be able to connect to the WinMX and your room will show up on the list of rooms without you doing anything special. The program finds WinMX for you.
Keep in mind you dont even have to have WinMX running for your room to be open with Ouka, its just a way to use both.

When you create a channel name with Ouka its only necessary to put in the text of the name. No numbers, the server will get those for you.

Then with your WinMX you simply find the room and join if you want to.. since your not actually hosting with WinMX the config2 file although, helpful to see the commands available, is not needed.

Once you have the room set up you should be able to enter with the MXC bot also, if it says "Remote host did not acknowledge" then you should try the loop back inter face to get the bot in.

Now.. set up your room, and dream about somethings more nice.. hehe

i feel stupid for waiting so long to ask about it. i was determined to do it myself then finally gave up.
That was very informative and i cant wait to see if my room comes alive, but unfortunately i am at work now...
