low volume
« on: June 27, 2006, 04:16:09 pm »
I just burned a movie file to disk but upon playing it I find the volume is quite low. Is there any way to raise the level before or while I burn the dvd? Many thanks

I suppose you could use a video editing tool, to extract the audio, then process that in an audio editing tool to raise the volume, then add it back to the original video file using the program you extracted it with..

Personally, I prefer cursing the person who ripped it & finding a different copy, where the volume is decent..

I wish they put their name though, it would make them so much easier to curse...

Virtualdub does a good job with that, though I don't remember if it was a mod version or the original I used.
It has an option to change the audio level and you can just keep the original video stream so it's fairly fast because you don't need to reencode it.
It depends on the audio codec though, but that's where the different mods come in.
You may need to play a bit with this since I don't remember exactly how I did it and I can't use virtualdub on here anymore cause I since switched to Linux 8)
