Hi, and welcome to WinMX, Chris!
When you look for a file, the first thing to check is the availability, so you don't have to queue for the file.
When you get a result like "1 of 6 available", it means there is only 1 user with the file, and the user has 1 of 6 available upload slots (5 users already downloading from him, with space for 1 more user)
When you see a result like "2 + 0 available", you'll notice a
- in front of the filename.
This means there is more than 1 user with the same file. (you can download from more than 1 user at once to increase your download speed) 2 + 0 means there are 2 users with available slots (no queue) and 0 users with no open slots (queue). When you click the
- , you'll expand the group of users for the file, so you can take a closer look at each user. Each user will then get the "1 of 6 available"-type status instead of the "2 + 0 available"-type
Which file you then choose is up to you. If you are downloading an mp3, the most interesting thing will be the bitrate. The higher the bitrate is, the better the sound quality is. The higher the bitrate is, the bigger the file gets, so it takes longer to download.
myself, I use to download the 128kbit files, because that's said to be about the same as CD quality. Some people may say something else, that's just my opinion. my ears can't hear any difference between 128 and any higher bitrate anyway
. What you choose is up to you. if you get a 192kbit or higher bitrate file, then I'm sure your ear won't hear any difference either
happy p2ping with WinMX
