share gaurd isnt workng

what could be wrong ?

It could be configured wrong
It could be not connecting
It may need to be admin
You may have forgotten to have it say /bot
Shareguard.ini could contain errors
It may be firewalled
You may be trying to run it under linux or mac OSX
You may have Ouka set in a way that prevents it entering room
You might have your firewall preventing it connecting
It may be in need of patching

ummmm without a little more detail.. it's kinda hard to say.....

Specifically what's it doing that it shouldn't? Or not doing that it should?

Does it need patching? You mean put the patch in shareguard folder ? Mine is not working either, the list never loads. But it does say, "Connected" but stays still just before getting the files

its connecting in the room but it will only re scan once :shock:

if it's set up right to scan, then it might be worth trying a different version, say one version older, or one newer if there is one have a look here: httpss://archive.winmxworld.com/MxControl/Shareguard/

OK well I have downloaded all the shareguards cant get any to come into room says cannecting please wait then thats it. I want the 210 version and yes I have downloaded the patch version for it but it does the same thing any ideas thx

Hi Mrjeneric4, could you download the version you want from the archive and use the special bot patch in the shareguard folder, due to IP changes some items are not happy working.

The one that says Patch for third party applications (DO NOT USE WITH WINMX) is the one you need.

I think that should resolve any problems

Hi want to thank you for your help but I did get shareguard to work last nite I went and d/led just the shareguard patch version. I had to delete everything in connection with shareguard from pc first then loaded up the patch version had to put /bot in field then it went right in been working since. Thanks again.

I started up shareguard v2.1.2, running in combination with the winmxworld patched version of winmx. It can log in, index files and return results in the chat room, but there are two problems:

1) The indexing takes forever and frequently stalls for several minutes. I am running as a primary user through a firewall, with ports 6699 and 6257 setup to forward to my host. Could this be the cause? What can be done about this?

2) I can get query returns in the chatroom, but not as a PM. What could be the cause of this?

On the version you specify I have tested myself that it works for sending PM's to users by sending one to myself..lol , this is normally controlled by a tick box on one of the options pages, have a look about for it

With the indexing its always been a problem as the different version have different tolerance levels to users leaving and joining while its indexing, in most cases there is no problem but long index times are something that we have to live with for now until the ideal way is found sorry to say.

Long and stalling indexing can also be caused by Bots or RoboMX having too high of a share number. If your bot has a share number of 1000 it will cause ShareGuard to slow or stall. This can be fixed by lowering the number to 1 - 10. ShareGuard doesnt like when people leave when it is trying to work. This cant be solved at the moment, but is something to bring up in the MXControl forum. Bender is back for a little and fixing some of the programs while he is here. I am sure that if someone brings this up Bender will look into it.
