can't connect
« on: August 06, 2006, 03:21:20 am »
I'm new to WinMX and am having trouble getting it to connect. I downloaded version 3.54 beta 4 and running it on Win XP. What other information can I provide that would help you solve my problem?

Thanks!

did you install a winmx with a patch or a standalone winmx only? www.winmxgroup.com and install it from there, that comes with a patch built in - winmx will not connect unless you patch it (or modify various system files, not a good idea)

Hi jdwmba

Can you tell me which version you downloaded from there? (meaning which Patch URL you used? Like Various WinMX Versions + Patch or Patch Only)
Also did you see a WinMX Splash screen  when it started up?

If you did can you please tell me where you WinMX lives, is it on the C:\Program files\WinMX  ?

If so can you see a file in there called the OLEDLG.DLL ?

The name of the file I installed is:  Instal-3.0-3.54b4.exe

Yes, I do see a splash screen when it starts up - says Win MX loading

The program lives at c:\programs\WinMX

And there is a file called OLEDLG.DLL located within that folder

Do you connect in primary or secondary? Please first try secondary and tell if that works

Cheers :P
Reconnect to winmx with the blocking patch :)
Patch link :

When I try getting a secondary connection it just constantly blinks yellow saying "connecting...."

When I try to make a primary connection I get an error message saying "Outgoing TCP connections use proxy server"

Can you open WinMX Settings for me, Outgoing TCP and make sure the first option on that page is ticked

'Dont use proxy server'

then retry either primary or secondary
